Coventry University SBF

A new £5.1m scheme is delivering free sustainable construction technology development, knowledge transfer and advice for small and medium-sized firms in the Midlands, to help them compete and grow within tomorrow’s challenging business environment.
Sustainable Building Futures is a unique project funded by Coventry University with the European Regional Development Fund. Through the provision of specialist skills, technology, knowledge and facilities, it aims to overcome the problems faced by smaller firms in transforming their approach in line with new sustainable construction methods and technologies, such as consultancy, testing of next generation environmental technology products, and business skills to win tendered contracts and new markets.
The SBF Team were looking for a company to embrace their vision for their office space. Godfrey Syrett were chosen through a competitive tender process for our clear understanding of how the visualisation should reflect the concept of SBF, and our outstanding environmental accreditations and awareness.
Whilst the SBF showcase needed to be an open area, it needed to be totally flexible to support wide ranging activities including exhibitions of technologies, formal - presentations, semi-formal - touch down, informal - for energising collaborations and creating belief and inspiration to the SME users. The use of porthole screens allowed the area vibrancy and interest whilst the white divider screens were used not only to act as a presentation area for promoting product and corporate identity but also to complement the specifically designed acoustic ceiling.
The SBF project is based in Coventry University’s iconic new Engineering and Computing Building which has a fresh approach to organising spaces for collaboration and also is BREEAM Excellent rated. The building has low carbon and renewable technologies and the SBF area further enhances these themes including the use of Natural Earth colours, and hard and soft furnishing from sustainable and recycled sources.

“Godfrey Syrett helped Coventry University with the work and events space created for business interaction.  A flexible and workable space was created, including our requirements for environmental credentials."
