Guy's Cancer Centre

The Project

The Cancer Centre at Guy’s Hospital is a new state-of-the-art building, which now provides most cancer treatment and research under one roof. The 14 storey building is a key feature in the London Bridge area and is made up of a number of stacked ‘villages’, each with its own distinct identity relating to a particular element of a patient’s cancer treatment. Following a rigorous tender process, we were delighted to be awarded the contract to supply furniture to this prestigious site. Timely delivery of the project was key, and furniture selection had to provide ‘excellence in design’, as per Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust’s creative brief.

Our Solution

The building maximises the space through the use of zoning and stacked ‘villages’; each distinguished by colour-coding to help visitors easily navigate throughout the centre. A welcoming and uplifting environment has been created by an intimate scale to the care places with good natural daylight, wayfinding and communal areas. We supplied a number of soft seating products in calming, neutral colours, to complement the architect’s design scheme. Café areas were furnished with Twin chairs in cream and black; strong and easy to clean. All furniture items are flexible and can be moved to suit patient or staff requirements.

Customer Feedback

"Godfrey Syrett provided a wide range of furniture proposals in response to our requirements. They engaged positively with both patients and staff and performed well against our restricted delivery programme. We were really impressed with the installation team who made the deliveries effortless, making it a very positive experience."
