With campuses in Doncaster and Birmingham, the National College for High Speed Rail (NCHSR) offers a new kind of specialist training to tackle the skills gap in engineering, design, planning, and manufacturing; as well as aspects such as communications. The College will be intergral to providing workers for HS2.
Welcoming its first cohort of students at the end of September 2017, students can train at two brand new college campuses with the latest technology and specialist facilities. Godfrey Syrett were delighted to provide furniture to both campuses.
Working with the site contractor Willmott Dixon, we designed and manufactured furniture for the Doncaster and Birmingham campuses, working within BIM as per the project requirements.
With a combined floor space of over 143,000sqft, these highly specialised buildings provide workshop space, classrooms, outdoor training areas incorporating railway tracks, and social spaces. We provided a selection of innovative products to suit the learning environments, including classroom furniture and plenty of breakout and informal collaborative furniture such as Spark-Hi booths.
“Following a competitive tender process, Godfrey Syrett was selected due to the strength of its design support, product mix & flexibility. We are delighted with the results, the furniture fit-out has put the perfect finishing touches to this prestigious project, which was finished on time for the new academic year.”
