13th July 2017, 14:45pmWe have recently completed a major accommodation contract in Birmingham: a six-figure project for Calthorpe Estates’ new student accommodation development in Edgbaston.
The development, 54 George Road, offers fifty bedrooms within a five-storey building, which also incorporates ground floor retail space.
Our role involved the design, manufacture and installation of a boutique style furniture range including desks, beds with storage, bespoke headboards with shelving, sofas, dining tables and chairs.
The delivery and installation of the fit-out was completed over a period of seven weeks in partnership with the main contractor, Torsion Group.
Paul Hutchinson, Business Development Manager at Godfrey Syrett, said:
“Calthorpe Estates had a very clear vision for a boutique style scheme and we worked closely with the project architect, Glancy Nichols, throughout the design process to ensure this was delivered. As a result the developer is now able to target the student intake for the new academic year in September.”
The prominent building is conveniently positioned by the main Birmingham ring road and a short walk to Five Ways train station only two stops from Birmingham city centre.
Ian Worthington, senior quantity surveyor at Torsion Group added:
“Having successfully worked together on a number of education projects, this was a great opportunity for Godfrey Syrett to showcase their furniture for the student accommodation sector.
From initial concept design, to a factory visit with our client to understand their manufacturing capabilities, through to delivery on-site, Godfrey Syrett have delivered at each step along the way. I look forward to working together again in the near future and continuing to build on the foundations of a good relationship between Torsion and Godfrey Syrett”.
We are targeting continued growth and presence in the student accommodation market throughout the UK. Last year, we opened a new showroom at our Country Durham manufacturing site, to showcase our Work, Rest and Play accommodation range.
We are also delivering a £1.46m furniture installation at Balfour Beatty’s new 536-bed student development, Foundry Court in Glasgow and have recently completed a six-figure accommodation contract at Edinburgh University.
