Almost £9,000 Raised for Children North East

15th January 2015, 15:21pm

Following the huge success of our Christmas raffle in 2013, we again entered into the festive spirit this Christmas to raise funds for local charity Children North East – this time raising an outstanding £2,050, and taking the total raised for this charity to almost £9,000.

One in four children in the North East live below the official poverty line - Children North East believes it is not fair or right that they don’t get the same chances and breaks as their peers. For almost 125 years they have been transforming the lives of disadvantaged children so that they have a better chance in life. Over 132,000 children in the North East are officially living in poverty, so improving their quality of life takes money, time and perseverance.

Suppliers, employees and local businesses all generously donated prizes for the raffle, with a grand total of 129 prizes by the time of the draw (including a 48” Smart TV!). Support came from all teams across the business, with every member of staff contributing in some way.

It was great to get everyone together and raise funds for such a great cause, and the donation will go a long way towards helping Children North East achieve their vision of a happy childhood and fulfilling future for all young people in our region. Carol Taylor, Senior Fundraiser for Children North East visited our sites to thank all our team personally and receive the cheque from our Managing Director; Neil Tweddle.

“We are so happy and proud to have this valuable support from Godfrey Syrett once again. Unrestricted funding such as this enables us to do so much more to help disadvantaged children, young people and their families in our region”
