23rd June 2017, 17:45pmWe welcomed Lord and Lady Wakeham to our Family Fun Day last weekend, to help celebrate our 70th anniversary.
Staff from across our three sites came together for a day of music and funfair rides, hosted by Newcastle Racecourse at Gosforth Park.
Lord and Lady Wakeham have been shareholders of the furniture manufacturer since 1972, and have seen many changes within the firm in their years on the board. From the structured and boxy offices of the 1980s, workspace style has changed dramatically; now favouring the more relaxed and ‘domesticated’ feel.
Lord and Lady Wakeham commented on the day:
“Godfrey Syrett has proven itself to respond to changes in market trends and demands time and again; growing from a small, single site to the £26.5 million company it is today. We are delighted to have been involved in their history and look forward to seeing the company achieve their next target of £50 million turnover by 2020.”
Mark Dixon, Executive Chairman at Godfrey Syrett, also said:
“We are delighted to have received the continued support of Lord and Lady Wakeham over many years, and were honoured to have welcomed them to our Family Fun Day to help us celebrate 70 years in business; which they have been a big part of.”
With the appointment of Dixon as Executive Chairman in 2016; we have raised our turnover target for 2020 from £40 million to £50 million.
Some of our recent projects including the new-build Faculty of Business and Law at UWE Bristol, Consett Academy in County Durham, and the Foundry Courtyard accommodation scheme in Glasgow.
